Maundy Thursday, Easter, and Pentecost Sunday or United Church Anniversary.

Special services are held at various times throughout the year such as Topsy Turvey Worship, Sunday School Picnic, Memorial Song Service, Service of Compassion, Barn

Service, and Christmas Eve. A Service of Worship is held at the South Shore Villa on the third Tuesday of each month. We value sharing worship at Ecumenical gatherings

such as: The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Good Friday, Easter Sunrise service and breakfast, World Day of Prayer, and Remembrance Service at the Crapaud War

Memorial.

Pastoral Care

South Shore United is blessed with a very active Pastoral Care Team who assists the minister.  The Pastoral Care Team provide a compassionate, confidential Christian ministry of practical and spiritual care, support, friendship and communication to those experiencing need, in ordinary times, as well as times of great joy or challenge.

UCW

The United Church Women have two units which meet regularly to provide a medium through which they may express their loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service. These groups welcome any ladies in the church for an afternoon or evening of fellowship.

Spiritual Nurture Committee

Provides oversight for the development of programs and worship experiences for persons of all ages to explore. nurture, and grow in their relationship with God; fosters fellowship opportunities for all persons within the congregation; and provides means of connecting with the local community and wider world.

The Library is a resource available to all in the congregation and we encourage its use for group or individual devotional material. Adult Bible Study is held weekly during the fall and winter.

Evening Faith and Study Programs are also held periodically.  The area of study is varied depending on leadership and interest.

Along with these programs we sponsor other fun and entertaining events such as seniors’ dinners, after service socials, and various types of fundraisers.

Outreach

The congregation participates in a number of ongoing outreach projects such as the Christmas Giving Tree, Camp Abby, and local food banks. Fair Trade tea and coffee is used for all church functions and also made available for those who wish to purchase these items.

Disaster appeals, shared through the United Church, enable people to respond to needs

of the wider world around

Sunday services are recorded weekly and made available to those unable to attend.
